First, I wanted to say "Happy Memorial Day" to everyone. Next, I want to say sorry for the absence. Today, whew, it's hot today, we will be talking about Venus, the hottest planet in the solar system. Did you know that the temperature can rack up to more than 864 degrees Fahrenheit? Why does this happen? It is because of the thick atmosphere that traps the heat, so, unlike Mercury, the heat stays for the day and night. Venus is 67,240,000 miles away from the sun and is the 2nd planet away from the sun. Venus, like Mercury, has no moons and it also has a jagged surface filled with valleys, hills, and mountains. The atmosphere is made of sulfuric acid and carbon dioxide. Venus is often called the sister of Earth because they are almost the same size. So remember, if you think it's a hot day today, you're lucky because you're not living on Venus! :-)
