The Solar System

I know many people know about the solar system and when I first learned about the solar system, I thought there were 8 planets and that's it but it turns out that's not true, I mean, literally. I really liked the solar system and was very interested in it and I thought I will start with this. The solar system is the system of planets that revolve around the Sun. There are 8 planets and 5 dwarf planets in the solar system. The 8 planets are:

  1. Mercury
  2. Venus
  3. Earth
  4. Mars
  5. Jupiter
  6. Saturn
  7. Uranus
  8. Neptune
(Note that order is closest to the sun to farthest)
There is also an asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. An asteroid is a piece of rock or debris floating in space. The asteroid belt is a clump of asteroids together orbiting the sun. The first four planets closest to the sun are called "rocky" planets as they are made of rock and the last four planets are called "gassy" planets because they are made entirely from gases.
The 2 dwarf planets are called Ceres and Pluto. Ceres is near the asteroid belt. It was once considered an asteroid but Ceres was too big to be an asteroid and too small to be a planet. Pluto is really far from the sun as it is even further than Neptune. Pluto was once a planet, but it was too small to be a planet so it is a dwarf planet.

Here is a list of the dwarf planets:

1. Pluto
2. Ceres
3. Haumea
4. Makemake
5. Eris

That's it for today, stay tuned on www.anishspace.blogspot.com
